What if I don’t have a lawyer but the other person does?

PNW Mediation prefers both parties to have a lawyer, but we can work with cases where only party has a lawyer. If you are representing yourself, you can help increase the likelihood of reaching an agreement by educating yourself. It may help to review the PNW Mediation pages for lawyers. PNW Mediation typically talks with both parties (and/or their lawyers) before a joint mediation session begins. Checking in with your mediator as soon as possible can help, so the mediator can help you identify what information may be helpful for you collect.
